Night time radio is to be used as the medium to deliver a hard hitting road safety message aimed at younger drivers
The Road Safety Authority say the 16 to 25 year age group has seen the highest number of road deaths this year
12 people have been killed on Cork roads since January with the death toll nationally now standing at 102
David Martin of the RSA told RedFM News says the late night radio ads are particularly targeting younger men who drive on rural roads
"The 16 to 25 age bracket carried the highest number of fatalities this year - it's over 25%, I think it's 27% - so that's significantly higher than any other age bracket, and an awful lot of those are male as well. So it is a problem. It's a problem that we're very much aware of, and this is what this campaign is very much aimed at addressing"
