No decision has yet been made on the establishment of a supervised injection facility for Cork
A former Lord mayor of the City says it's time people accepted that the "out of sight, out of mind" approach to addiction is not working in Cork
Cllr Colm Kelleher says he has seen mobile and fixed supervised injection clinics operating in Lisbon and says they are "game changers"
He says while it would not act as a "silver bullet" it would be an integral part of the services provided for people struggling with addiction:
"Injection facilities have to go hand in hand and in tandem with wraparound services, with addiction services, with psychiatric services but also with treatment centres."
