One person an hour dies of cancer in Ireland

That statistic has prompted three of Ireland’s leading cancer charities to join forces for the first time ahead of World Cancer Day to launch an innovative digital campaign

Breast Cancer Ireland, Breakthrough Cancer Research and the Marie Keating Foundation are taking part in the ‘Face Up To Cancer’ initiative

The campaign aims to raise funds for cancer research and support services across Ireland, whilst also humanising what can be a hugely isolating experience for those diagnosed.

Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show Stephen Teap who lost his wife Irene to cervical cancer in 2017 explains how the campaign will work

"There's a website FaceUpToCancer.ie and what you do is you just just log on, take a photograph and you make a donation. That photo is going to be sent to these charities and at the end of the four week campaign, they are going to put a mosaic together, putting all these selfie photos together, which is going to look pretty cool"
