The OPW Minister says he is committed to completing the interim flood measures promised for East Cork ahead of the winter season
Kieran O'Donnell's comments come after flood prevention measures for Midleton and surrounding areas were raised in the Dail this morning
Emergency dredging works were approved in August to minimise flood risk in the area and calls have been made for the inclusion of relief works in other high risk flood areas and the establishment of a text alert system
Deputy O'Donnell says he hopes there will shortly be a decision on the overall flood relief plan for Midleton
"The issue in terms of the main planning consent route for the Midleton flood relief scheme, a lot of consideration is being given to the planning that would deliver the scheme in the most efficient manner. The risks associated with each planning routes, the decision on planning will better inform which planning consent for the scheme will be submitted. I hope there will be a decision on that shortly"
