The high cost of energy and the huge profits of the ESB were two of the main points raised by people taking part in a cost of living protest in the city this afternoon.
Up to three thousand people gathered on Grand Parade earlier and marched through the city centre to highlight, what they say is, the government's lack of action in tackling the rising cost of living.
Yesterday, the ESB announced it made €390 million in after-tax profit in the first six months of the year - compared to 128 million for the same period last year.
The figure has infuriated many cost of living campaigners and the general public and there have been calls for the company to be fully nationalised.
Tánaiste Leo Varadkar said the government will take dividends from the profits and use them to reduce energy bills.
