Over 370 asylum seekers have been put up at a hotel in East Cork.

The owners of the centre will get just under €220,000 per week for the new influx of residents according to the Irish Examiner.

Earlier this year 450 Ukranian residents at the Quality Hotel in Youghal were told they had to leave the site.

The eviction notice was paused due to it's short notice particularly for the 150 children who attend the local school in Youghal.

374 international protection applicants were moved to the hotel in recent weeks.

The current rate for accommodating refugees in €84 per day.

Owners of the hotel will receive close to an additional €220,000 per week for housing the new international protection applicants.

The hotel been closed to the public since 2022.
