Over 52,000 passengers will pass through Cork Airport over the May Bank Holiday Weekend.
It’s the first of the summer season Bank Holidays and the figures represent a 27% increase on last years passenger numbers.
Cork Airport expects to host 2,500,000 passengers this year and will offer 44 routes, including a new six times weekly service to Bristol and a twice weekly flight to Croatia.
Speaking to RedFM News, Communications Manager at Cork Airport Barry Holland says they are continuing to see strong demand for international flights.
"Cork Airport estimates this year in 2023, that our passenger numbers will be in the region of 2,500,000, which will be very close to our pre pandemic numbers.
"It's a signal of the great recovery of air travel post pandemic, the desire for international travel, but also coupled with a lot more routes and new route announcements and great connectivity available from Cork, it encourages people to avail of those new services as well."
