79 year old Gerry O'Halloran and his 83 year old sister Mary were threatened by a man with a knife during an hour-long ordeal at Gerry's home in Boyce's Street Gurranabraher.
Gerry was at home when a man broke in at 7:30am and held a knife up to his throat.
His sister Mary called to the house while the incident was underway and was also held at knifepoint.
The man eventually left the home with a sum of cash.
Gerry and Mary were treated for their injuries at the scene and taken to the Mercy University Hospital.
The GoFundMe campaign was set up by paramedics Keith Harrington and Sean Healy in an attempt to return some of the money stolen during the aggravated burglary.
Up to 1pm today (Monday), the campaign- which originally aimed to raise €2,000- has raised €26,495 from 1,175 donors.
