Over €6,000 has been raised to help pay for the funeral of a 36-year-old woman who died after she was assaulted at a city soup run.
Mother of 3, Vanessa O'Callaghan, had just been given food and a sleeping bag by Kindness Krew volunteers on the 1st of December, when she was attacked on Patrick's Street.
A volunteer helped Vanessa until she was taken to Cork University Hospital where she died 3 days later.
Gardaí are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the assault to make contact with them.
Speaking to RedFM News, Shelly O'Callaghan says she set up a Go Fund Me to help her Grandmother with funeral costs for Vanessa's unexpected death:
"There has been a lot of people stopping us on the streets asking us, can we set one up, can we set one ip. And obviously, with my nan, with it being so unexpected. We didn't have the funds ready for her funeral. Just to get the burden of my own nan, and our own family."
