The Chief Officer of Cork Kerry Community Healthcare is due to give his response to a petition to save the Owenacurra Centre later today.
Michael Fitzgerald will appear before the Joint Committee on Public Petitions at 1:30pm.
The committee first discussed the 'Saving the services of the Owenacurra Centre, Midleton, east Cork' petition in July.
It heard that family members of residents said their loved ones do not want to be moved to other facilities as some have been at Owenacurra for up to 20 years and consider the town home.
It also heard from family member Dr Orla Kelleher who said her aunt Anna does not want to move elsewhere and has found the entire process very distressing.
The HSE announced the closure of the centre in June last year.
In April of this year, the Joint Committe on Health wrote to Minister for State for Mental Health & Older People Mary Butler, calling on her to reverse the decision to close the centre.
However, Minister Butler said allowing residents to stay in an unfit for purpose and substandard building would be failing their needs.
