The owner of a bakery in Blackpool which burned down this morning says she’s absolutely devastated.
Cork City Fire Brigade were alerted to the blaze earlier this morning and managed to control it but the bakery has been extensively damaged.
Fire crews evacuated surrounding apartments and there were no injuries.
Gardaí told RedFM News:
"Gardaí were alerted to an incident of criminal damage by fire that occurred this morning in the Blackpool area, Cork city, Wednesday 15th January 20255.
The incident occurred at approximately 6 am. No injuries have been reported at this time.
The investigation is ongoing."
Speaking to RedFM News at the scene, owner of Cork’s oldest bakery Rachel Healy says a technical examination is taking place to see what caused the fire:
"We just have to see now, they're inside, they said they'll drop down to me. They're investigating. But thank God no one was hurt, there's apartments attached to me either side."
