A pedestrian in his 50s has died on the N25.
Emergency services were called to the scene between Midleton and Castlemartyr after 4 o'clock this morning.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after the man was struck by a truck at Ballyedekin this morning.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem will take place.
No one else was injured during the incident.
A section of the road between Ballyedekin and Castlemartyr remains closed for a technical exam and local diversions are in place.
Gardaí in Midleton are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who was in the area between 3:45 and 4:15am to contact them on 021 462 1550.
