Management say the ED is exceptionally busy due to a large number of very ill people requiring admission.
People are being asked to explore all available options before presenting at the ED and are being reminded that issues such as breaks, sprains and light burns can be treated at Local Injury Clinics at St Mary's Health Campus in Gurranabraher and Bantry General Hospital.
There are 34 patients waiting for a bed at the hospital today according to the latest Trolley Watch figures from the INMO.
