The Irish Blood Transfusion Service say summer is a challenging time for blood donations.
They are asking people to try and donate blood before they go on holidays.
A number of blood groups are currently in low stock.
Speaking to RedFM news, Julianne Kelly, from the IBTS says blood is always needed regardless of the time of year:
"Summertime can be a struggle, particularly with more people traveling, children off school, and people's day to day routine indifferent. So, donating blood is never a priority for people during the summer. Unfortunately, the need for blood is constant, and we still need to collect 3000 units of blood each week, regardless of the time of year".
