People are being warned to be smart when shopping online and be mindful of the data they are sharing
Digital experts say they are seeing a rise in the number of people shopping on sites such as Shein and TEMU
Muriel Foley of mgfd.ie says when engaging with these sites it's best practice to create a separate email address
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show she says it's important people protect themselves when shopping online:
"I've done a lot of research on TEMU in particular, and like, they're so non regulated that, you know, we don't exactly know what's happening with our data. And Chinese tech is so advanced, and it's advanced for a reason. It takes our data, it learns more, and then it just continues to evolve. You're giving them your information like they're feeding off of that. They're looking at your shopping habits. They're selling it to other bigger tech companies do."
