The Department of Social Protection has contacted all those on the payment to confirm their eligibility on the ‘my welfare’ website.
Speaking to RedFM News, Minister Heather Humphreys says the number of people claiming the payment continues to fall:
"Because most people in all fairness, they want to get back to work, because it's it's great to enjoy the camaraderie of your work colleagues. And it's been difficult, again as I said for the hospitality sector, and people do want to get back and that's reflected in the fact that we have had the biggest reduction ever since February over 300,000 people have now come off the PUP and it just shows to me, people want to get back to work."
