A person swimming in Whiting Bay near Youghal Harbour had to be rushed to hospital this afternoon.
Emergency Control requested Youghal RNLI launch its inshore lifeboat at 1.25pm to help three swimmers who seemed to be in difficult .
The three were 150m from the shore.
A member of the public raised the alarm, but two of the swimmers made it ashore without assistance.
The Youghal RNLI lifeboat, worked with units of the Irish Coast Guard and Rescue 117, to search for the third swimmer.
The person was found and airlifted by helicopter to Cork University Hospital.
