Pitbull terrier shot dead by Gardaí after attacking residents in Ballyphehane yesterday

A pitbull terrier was shot dead by Gardaí after attacking residents in Ballyphehane yesterday.

A man and woman were taken to Cork University Hospital to be treated for injuries after the attack which happened around 5.20pm.

It comes just days after 23 year old Nicole Morey died after she was attacked by a BULLY XL in County Limerick.

In a statement to RedFM News, Gardaí said:

On June 6th, 2024, at 5:20 p.m., Togher Gardaí and the Armed Response Unit attended at a private residence in Ballyphehane, Togher, Cork City, following reports of a pit-bull terrier attacking residents.

A male and female injured by the dog were transported to Cork University Hospital for medical assessment and treatment.

Gardaí engaged with the owner of the dog, and after failed attempts to sedate the animal, it was shot by the Armed Response Unit and euthanized by the vet.
