Developers have sought planning permission to build 92 residential units on lands at Bessborough.
The development by MWB Two Ltd will include 43 one-bed units, 30 two-bed units and 18 three-bed units and will also include a creche with capacity for 25 children.
The project will result in the creation of up to 200 jobs in the construction phase, and MWB Two will invest approximately €40 million in the development, if given the go-ahead.
The Cork Survivors and Supporters Alliance, which led objections to the previous proposal at Bessborough, said no development permission should be granted until the area marked on historic maps as a childrens’ burial ground is under public ownership and managed as a public cemetery.
