Plans For A 34-Storey Building In The City Centre Have Hit A Stumbling Block

The proposed skyscraper will be almost double the height of the Elysian and will feature a number of retail outlets and a rooftop lounge

The Council granted permission for the tallest building in Ireland last month, however the €140 million development has been stalled by an appeal by The Irish Georgian Society.

The Irish Examiner reports the society is concerned that plans to demolish historic buildings on the site could set a 'worrying precedent'.

An Bord Pleánala will now examine the application, with a final decision expected at the end of March.
