Cork County's population is expected to grow by 60,000 over the life of the new County Development Plan.
The new plan which runs from this year to 2028 has been adopted by the County Council after a two year statutory review process.
The ambitious plan is set out over six volumes and covers nearly 3,000 objectives across a range of topics including housing, green infrastructure and climate change
It includes plans to provide for a population growth of nearly 60,000 with over 22,000 housing units across the county at locations in County Metropolitan Cork, the ring and county towns, key villages, and rural areas.
Other targets outlined in the plan inlcude the completion of the Midleton to Youghal greenway in 2023 along with a stronger focus on Cork Harbour and the wider Cork County economy to help drive growth in the region
County Mayor Councillor Gillian Coughlan says the plan supports the creation of attractive and vibrant places to live, affording people the opportunity to live closer to where they work which will help to revitalise our towns and villages.
