Gardaí and the Fire Service were called to the scene at around 4pm yesterday after a group of teenagers spotted the man's body in the water.
Officers from Bishopstown Garda station and Anglesea Street Fire Station removed the man's body from the water and it was transferred to the City Morgue.
A post mortem is due to take place and a file will be prepared for the Coroners Court.
Investigations are ongoing, however the man's death is not thought to be suspicious.
