A former Tánaiste has criticised the President for supposedly speaking out of turn yesterday, when he slammed the Government's housing plan.
Senator Michael McDowell says Michael D Higgins was "right in what he said" but he wasn't in a position to say it.
Yesterday the President described the government's housing policies as our "our great, great failure".
