President Michael D Higgins says the hope of humanity is in the pursuit of peace and says conversations between heads of state must pursue solutions to the problems facing the world.
President Higgins was speaking on a visit to University College Cork with the President of Malta Dr George Vella.
Yesterday the two heads of state discussed the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine and the likely developments and consequences.
The two heads of state received a warm welcome and cheers from students before attending an event at the college’s Honan Chapel.
Earlier the two presidents met with the Deputy Lord Mayor at City Hall.
