The price of coffee on supermarket shelves is set to rise.
Roasters say they’re struggling to deal with a range of costs which have soared by over 60% in the last 6 months.
Poor weather in Brazil and Vietnam has led to a spike in demand which has resulted in price hikes on coffee beans.
Speaking to RedFM News, Suzanne Casey from Velo Coffee Roasters in the city says they can no longer afford to absorb the extra costs:
"It can be really difficult to explain to people why we have to bring up the prices, coffee prices have gone up 60% in the last 6 months and unfortunately with the rise of those prices it isn't something that we can continue to absorb and those prices now have to be passed on to consumers."
