UCC has appointed Professor John O'Halloran as the 16th President of the University.
Professor O'Halloran has been Interim President since September last year following the surprise resignation of Professor Patrick O'Shea, who was just three years into a ten year term as President.
Professor O'Halloran is an ornithologist and has written extensively on the ecological impacts of land use change and climate change.
He is married to the Director of the National Cancer Registry Professor Deirdre Murray and they have three children.
