The proposed 'Children's Hospital' at CUH has taken another step forward.
Today's Irish Examiner is reporting that a planning application has been lodged for a new 82-bed paediatric department at Cork University Hospital.
The project will provide single en-suite rooms, each with a sleeping area for parents, as well as specialist disability, high-dependency, haematology, oncology, mental health and palliative care rooms.
It will also have four paediatric surgical theatres.
It is projected to cost €60 million.
The paper says that once built, it is expected that paediatric services at the Mercy University Hospital will transfer to CUH.
