The preferred route for the proposed Cork Luas has been launched by the Taoiseach.
Public consultation for the 18km light rail system, which will run from Ballincollig to Mahon via the city centre, will open this evening here
Speaking to RedFM News Taoiseach Micheál Martin, was asked how long it could be before the Luas is operational:
"I'm not going to give a timeline on it, funding will be provided, obviously all funding depends on economic cycles and so on. Now we have made very good progress so far I'm weary of giving a specific timeline but we are going to get it done efficiently and effectively."
