The Department of Agriculture has rejected an oyster farm proposed for Ring and Clonakilty.
Locals opposed to the development claimed it would cause civil and environmental damage and waged a campaign against it.
They say the 22 hectare project would have had a negative impact on the local community, rowing club, fishing boats and the local tourism industry.
