Protests are being mounted outside secondary schools across Cork today.
Teachers are calling for the redevelopment of the senior cycle to be delayed.
The changes which could be implemented in 2026 would see English and Maths reduced to one paper with a project worth 40% submitted in 5th year.
Speaking to RedFM News, English teacher at Patrician Academy in Mallow, Siobhan O’Donovan says the changes being made to the Leaving Cert feel too rushed:
"Essentially we're spreading the stress over a year and a half instead of what they currently have. So I just think it's too rushed and teachers don't feel that they're being listened too. So we would call on the Minister to slow down, maybe pause it for a year or two and get it right from the offset."
