Cork City Council have created an online public survey which aims to gather hopes and ideas for the future of arts and culture in Cork.

Cork has a rich and diverse art scene which is what makes it one of Europe’s Cities of Culture.

The city strives to cater to all corners of the diverse and dynamic community living here, as well as visitors to the city.

In 2019 the European Commission's Cultural and Creative Cities Monitor ranked Cork City second amongst 79 cities for its 'cultural participation and attractiveness'.

Now, the Arts Office of Cork City Council is developing a new strategy to guide its work over the next five years with a goal to ensure that arts and culture in Cork is the very best it can be.

The development of the plan comes at a challenging time for the arts sector which is still recovering and navigating its way through the impact of the Covid19 pandemic.

The 'Have Your Say' say survey is the first stage of public consultation and the Council is seeking responses from everyone from, or living in, Cork regardless of how engaged in the arts they feel themselves to be.

Speaking about the survey, Cork City Arts Officer, Michelle Carew said:

"The arts are for everyone and everyone has an opinion. We want to hear as many diverse voices as possible in order to shape a future strategy for the arts and culture that is representative of the entire city and all who are from here.”

The short, anonymous survey will remain open for response until 5pm on Monday 6th December 2021 and is available here: ‘Have Your Say’ Arts and Culture Strategy Survey.
