Seal Rescue Ireland has urged the public to stop 'swarming' Wally the Walrus, and to admire the animal from a distance.

The volunteer group says he was visibly stressed and upset during a stop in Cork yesterday, and may also have suffered injuries at the time too.

The group is also asking the public NOT to post Wally's location on social media, to give him a chance to rest.

Executive Director Melanie Crock says this puts the Walrus, and people, at risk of injury.

"Wherever he seems to show up he's just getting swarmed by boats, people sticking cameras in his face, and people trying to climb onto the boat with him.

"He hasn't had a chance to rest as he has to get on and off the boat.

"It may have caused an injury yesterday as there were some sharp objects in the boat."
