Some publicans will be focused on simply surviving between now and the start of the tourist season in March.
That's according to the Vintners Federation of Ireland after Diageo announced it would increasing their prices from the first of February.
The group say the move, which will see publicans charged 12 cent extra excluding VAT per pint, has come at the worst time possible for the industry.
Diageo say they were forced to raise prices due to inflation.
Speaking to RedFM News, Michael O'Donovan from the VFI in Cork says this is the quietest time of the year for pubs.
"In December it was people who were out there were spending money. I think a lot of businesses were entertaining employees.
"We really feel the pinch of it in January. If you walk around town no on a Monday, Tuesday Wednesday, you see a lot of bars and hospitality outlets in general closed.
"These, I suppose 10 weeks now that we have to St. Patrick's Day festival to try and get there and see the start to the tourist season, and hopefully things will kick on for 2023 from there."
