The refurbished Dursey Island cable car has been officially reopened.
The country's only cable car underwent a €1.6 million upgrade and was out-of-service since May 2022.
Over 20,000 passengers use the six-passenger cable-car annually.
It was originally opened in 1969 by Taoiseach Jack Lynch and used to transport livestock until 2012 - but is now mainly used by tourists and farmers.
Speaking on RedFM's Neil Prendeville Show today, Dursey Island farmer Joe Sullivan, says the cable car will make life on the island much easier:
"for a lot of it, I had my own boat so I was able to make it back and forth, but it was it was tough. I mean, I racked up bills there - just under €1000 euros on diesel alone. It'll just be much easier to bring their clothes, bring their shopping, bring their shopping whatever - trying to bring it by boat is just nest to impossible. It'll be much easier with the cable car now".
