The discovery of archaeological remains at a site on Barrack Street in the city are likely to date back to the 18th century
That's according to City Archaeologist with the City Council Ciara Brett who says the skeletal remains of six people found under the partially demolished Nancy Spains pub are still on site .
Post excavation analysis on the remains will take place once they have been removed from the area in the next 8 weeks and this will help archaeologists to date them
The remains were found Barrack Street which was part of the suburbs of the medieval city with Elizabeth Fort in the area and Gallows Green just 500 metres away
Speaking to RedFM News Ciara Brett of Cork City Council says the find is not that unusual but equally not an every day occurrence
