The 66-year-old died on Sunday after collapsing in the street in Bantry in West Cork.
His solicitor Frank Buttimer confirmed the cremation on behalf of Ian Bailey’s next of kin this evening and said that no further statement will be issued.
Ian Bailey was arrested twice in relation to the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier in December 1996 but was never charged in Ireland.
