Representatives from the tourism sector have sent a letter to the Taoiseach warning against new laws around holiday rentals.
The new rules would see registration numbers required for rooms and properties that are rented out to tourists for at least 3-weeks in the year.
Holiday rentals - such as those advertised online on Airbnb - will be monitored by Fáilte Ireland.
Speaking in the Dáil earlier, Cork TD, Michael Collins, said many property owners are worried about their livelihoods:
"They're not afraid of regulation. They're not afraid to sit down around the table and put things right and make sure that everything is in order. But they do have that concern that about the planning regulation that may be involved in this and if this goes ahead, Taoiseach, the way it is being reported, it's going to wipe out the AirBNB services throughout West Cork and other places and that's the concern."
