A resident on the northside of the city says the issue of discoloured water must become an election issue.

People have been reporting brown dirty water coming from their tap for almost two years and say they're sick of buying bottled water.

Uisce Eireann says it's not funded to provide water tankers or vouchers to buy water while it works on the issue.

Speaking to RedFM News, John Mulcahy who lives in Ballyvolane says Cork's dirty water issue needs to be the Governments top priority:

"I know that there are no knocking on doors, and you're getting promises from a lot of people that can't actually fulfill anything realistically But this is definitely more a local election issue, and I can almost guarantee that will be a General Election issue next year as well."
