Residents living close to Páirc Ui Chaoimh say adding two new car parks and entrance ways to the front of the stadium could pose a danger to pedestrians.

The Ballintemple Area Residents Association say they are totally opposed to plans for the car parks at either end of the all-weather pitch.

Stadium management insist the car parks are needed as the fire officer has said the current parking at the back of the stadium cannot be used during large events.

Speaking to RedFM News, Colm O'Leary from the Ballintemple Area Residents Association says they feel that people using the nearby parks could be at risk due to increased traffic in the area:

"They're not controllable dangers. You can write on your planning application they're controllable, but ultimately they're not. We see that here when the Vaccination Centre is up and running. This area, where they want to develop, is unusable, even with multiple stewards in place, traffic management plan, stop signs everywhere. They're just not adhere to. And they won't be if this is developed into a car park."
