Residents Living In The Vicinity Of UCC Says Landlord Legislation Needs Updating

They say the management and upkeep of rented properties needs to be reviewed

The Magazine Road and Surrounding Areas Residents Association made the call after yesterday's order by Judge Olann Kelleher who found that a landlord who owns two properties in the area where loud parties have been held for over 7 weeks is responsible for the noise.

Fachtna O'Reilly from Model Farm Road, Carrigrohane faces a €1,000 fine or 12 months in jail if there is a proven breach of a noise protection order at his two properties.

The Residents group says it's high time that the current legislation was changed and made more relevant to 2020.
