Residents with discoloured tap water in the city have given up on Uisce Eireann
That's according to a Cork TD who raised the issue of Cork's water quality at a special Oireachtas meeting with the water provider yesterday.
Residents have been reporting issues with their water supply for around 2 years to Uisce Eireann which says it's working to resolve the issue.
Speaking in the Dáil, Cork TD Thomas Gould told Uisce Eireann's Margaret Attridge that the reason the water provider is seeing a drop in complaints is because people have given up hope:
Margaret Attridge "We are seeing a drop in the number of water quality issues that are being reported to us"
Thomas Gould "Just on that Margaret, people have given up. They have stopped phoning Uisce Eireann because it takes too long to phone in, to get a response, to get reference numbers. They are getting up to six reference numbers and they have just given up on ringing Uisce Eireann because they don't believe that they are being taken seriously"
