Restaurant owners have expressed their disappointment at the Government's decision to increase the VAT rate from nine to 13.5 per cent at the end of August
They say the increased VAT rate for hospitality and tourism could push some restaurants to closure.
The Department of Finance has confirmed Michael McGrath does not plan to give a further extension of the measure which has already cost 300 million euro.

He says many restaurants were relying on the lower VAT rate which was helping to keep their doors open
Speaking to RedFM News Liam Edwards says the timing of the VAT rise is not helpful either
