The jury at the trial of Richard Satchwell have been told a pathologist will give evidence that no cause of death could be established for Tina Satchwell.

The 57-year-old of Grattan Street in Youghal has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Tina Satchwell at the same address in March 2017.

In an outline of the expected evidence yesterday prosecution barrister Gerardine Small told the jury they will hear evidence of how a review of the case found ‘significant inconsistencies’ between what Richard Satchwell said in 2017 and what was turned up in the investigation.

She said the jury will be presented with CCTV footage which will place Richard Satchwell at Youghal Post Office on the 20th of March 2017, which she said was contrary to his claim of being in Dungarvan in Co Waterford at the time.

The jury also heard evidence of a statement he gave to Gardaí in May 2017 in which he said Tina was violent towards him and would take her frustrations out on him.

The trial continues this morning.
