The rising number of road fatalities has prompted a young woman, who sustained life altering injuries in a crash last Summer, to speak out about her experience.

Nine people have been killed on Cork roads so far this year with two motorcyclists losing their lives in Banteer and Whites Cross within three days of each other this week.

Roisin Stakelum was the victim of a head on collision, when her car was struck by a stolen car driven by a teenager at speed, the wrong way down the M8 motorway near Mitchelstown.

Speaking to RedFM News Roisin says the crash changed the course of her life:

"I'm nine to 10 month post crash and right now I feel like I'm never going to be the same. I'm never going to look the same. I'm never going to feel the same. I'm never going to be able to enjoy the same things that I enjoyed before July. It changed absolutely everything and it changed the direction of my life. I'm supposed to be in Australia starting a new life, and that's not gonna happen for me now"
