The RNLI is appealing to people to leave inflatable toys at home after a man and a woman were rescued off the coast of East Cork on Friday.
A full scale emergency operation was launched when the two adults were being blown out to sea on an inflatable toy boat at Youghal's Strand Beach.
The Youghal RNLI volunteer lifeboat crew were scrambled and rescued the pair and brought them to shore.
Youghal RNLI Operations Manager John Hearne told RedFM News that inflatable boats, beds and toys should not be used on open waters due to offshore winds:
"It's a significant hazard on fine days, you know, when people will flock to the beach, and that's great to see, great to see people enjoying the water. that there's a particular difficulty with the inflatables, and especially when kids are in them on a fine day, they can just be blown out to sea and very quickly, get into trouble."
