Fresh calls have been made for inflatable toys and boats to be left at home after a man and woman had to be rescued off Youghal over the weekend
A full scale emergency operation was mounted on Friday when the two adults were being blown out to sea on an inflatable toy boat off the Strand Beach.
The RNLI volunteer lifeboat crew launched their inshore lifeboat and brought them ashore to the Front Strand and into the care of Youghal Coast Guard
Speaking to RedFM News Youghal RNLI Operations Manager John Hearne says every year they respond to call outs with children being swept out on inflatables
"As far as we're concerned, they're not for the sea. Every year, lots of children get into grave danger by being blown out to sea on the inflatables. At the start of the season, the operations manager at the Coastguard reminded everyone, literally said, do not use inflatable toys in open water or swim out after anything drifting, as things can quickly go wrong"
