If you see someone in difficulty while in the water, raise the alarm but never enter the water yourself.
That's according to the RNLI in Cork who are appealing to those heading to the sea over the coming days, to go to one of the 12 life-guarded beaches along the Cork coast.
There, lifeguards are on duty between half past ten in the morning and seven o'clock in the evening every day until the end of August.
In the past week, three people have died in water-related deaths.
Beaches in Cork are expected to draw large crowds this weekend as bathers look to cool down as temperatures shoot up.
The RNLI's 'Float to Live' guide encourages anyone in difficulty in the water to lean back, spread their arms and legs out to float, wait until they can control their breathing, and then call for help or swim to safety.
