Road users are advised to use extreme caution on the roads this morning following Storm Barra.
A status Red and Orange alert for Cork has expired and a yellow wind and rain warning is in place until 6pm this evening.
Council crews from the City and County will begin a clean-up operation at first light and both Councils are warning drivers to expect spot flooding and debris including fallen trees on many routes this morning.
Thousands of homes and businesses were without power supply yesterday due to the high winds- as of this morning there are 2766 customers without power in the city and county this morning.
Speaking to RedFM News, Director of Services at Cork City Council David Joyce says people need to be extremely careful on the roads this morning.
"There are going to be roads that people wouldn't;t have travelled on yesterday because of the red warning, so they may still come across debris and trees down across the city.
"Please drive with care and attention. We are aware of 23 trees down across the city, some of those have take out power cables and obviously we have been leasing with the ESB to get those cables repaired as quickly as possible and get the trees removed."
Meanwhile diversions on the M8 remain in place this morning due to an overturned artic truck.
A crane is needed to move it and it's expected the road will reopen later this morning.
The truck is located between Junction 13 and 15 and motorists are advised that all northbound traffic is to divert through Fermoy.
