Pete Currier was sailing from the Caribbean to Wales when the engine of his yacht "Sea Symphony" broke down after three weeks and his sails were destroyed by a storm.
He was rescued by Kinsale RNLI off the Old Head of Kinsale and towed into the town where he was met by three of his children who live in Cork.
Pete is currently in London working in the live events industry and told RedFM News that he is keen to call Kinsale home going forward.
Speaking to RedFM News after being rescued, Pete said he was never afraid, even when caught in the middle of a force 8 storm:
"I've never been afraid in my life. I don't see the point of being afraid, it's a waste of energy as far as I'm concerned; what is any kind of emotional state going to affect that? Not at all, so just get on with it. I toured with rock bands for many many years and back in the days before internet, if suddenly broke you had to fix it. And I've got really good at all that stuff. It's amazing what you can do if you put your mind to it."
