A North Cork based community group says rumours circulating about the proposed use of the former Heatherside Hospital Doneraile is being used to stir up a frenzy in the local community.
A group gathered outside the entrance of the former hospital building on Tuesday night to protest after reports of its potential use were circulated on social media.
It's been claimed that the site could be used to house asylum seekers however ‘Doneraile for All’, said that there has been a lot of scaremongering about how the hospital might be used.
In a statement the Department of Integration says it will assess the potential uses for the site and will advise the County Council in relation to any future plans.
